Brian Bernstein

For Mayor

My name is Brian Bernstein and I am running for Mayor. I will work with you to make our Town a community that makes us proud. With my experience as a former Municipal Court Judge, former member of the Town Council, and lawyer, I will make you an informed part of the process, not a bystander. The public deserves to be brought into the conversation when decisions are made and cannot afford a Mayor who merely reports what happened yesterday. With your vote, I will work to restore courteous, respectful, transparent, and responsible governance to Demarest.

David Jiang

For Council

I’ve lived in Demarest for over five years with my wife Hilde. My son and daughter attend DMS and LLE, respectively. I’m a solutions-focused businessman who started my own venture that is celebrating its 20th year of success. Until 2020, I served on the board of the Bergen Chinese School, which oversaw more than 200 students from the local communities. I’m running to represent the underserved in our community and to bring a fresh perspective to the Council. If elected, I will use my business experience for the betterment of the community.

Dan Marks

For Council

I’ve been a resident for fourteen years with my wife Jill. My two kids attended CRS, LLE & NVD. I work as a System Integrator bringing multiple partners together to deliver global services to Fortune 1000 clients. I’ve coached the Vikings and Rec Soccer. After recently volunteering at a housing rebuild in New Orleans, I remembered how much I enjoyed giving back and contributing to something larger than myself. I hoe that you give me the opportunity to serve the community of Demarest and work to make it an even better place to live.

Together, we will...

  • Actively seek your input and involvement on issues, individual and town-wide; like the best use for the bank building.
  • Require open and transparent hiring practices.
  • Implement a flood management program and seek county and federal assistance to repair our storm management infrastructure and County Road bridge.
  • Stop wasting taxpayer money and file remediation plan with the NJDEP for the Demarest compost yard to avoid additional fines and unnecessary expenses. Since last year, these unnecessary fines and expenses have cost you more Han $130,000. This money is better used for our seniors, infrastructure, and services that can be provided to residents.
